Kejuruteraan dan Material Nano

PENGENALAN

Teknologi nano adalah ciptaan material berguna/ berfungsi, alatan dan sistem melalui kawalan ke atas skala panjang nanometer (nm) (biasanya kurang daripada 100nm) dan eksploitasi fenomena baru (fizikal, kimia, biologi) pada skala panjang di atas untuk aplikasi-aplikasi tertentu.

Kerajaan Malaysia telah secara rasaminya melancarkan Direktori Nanoteknologi peringkat kebangsaan (NND) di bawah MOSTI dilancarkan oleh YB Menteri Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi Datuk Seri Dr. Maximus Ongkili bersama YBhg Prof. Dr. Halimaton Hamdan sebagai pengarah pertama. 

Objektif utama NND adalah untuk memacu Malaysia ke arah persekitaran kondusif untuk pembangunan aplikasi teknologi nano dan pengkomersilan. Sokongan kerajaan ini akan memacu perkembangan teknologi nano kepada teknologi lain yang sesuai.

Justeru, UMS perlu terlibat dan menyumbang kepada agenda nasional kritikal. P
