General The Journal of Tropical Biology and Conservation is an international English-language journal published by the Institute for Tropical Biology and Conservation, Universiti Malaysia Sabah. This journal is devoted to the publication of Research Papers, Short Articles or Communications, Reports and Reviews in all fields that are of general relevance to Tropical Biology and Conservation including investigations on Biodiversity, Systematics and Taxonomy, Experimental Biology, Applied Ecology, Wildlife Management and Control, Ethnobotany and Ethnozoology, Phytochemistry and Ecotourism. The editors encourage contributions of papers from Southeast Asian region. |
Preparation
of manuscripts
Manuscripts should be typewritten (Font type: Times New Roman, Font size: 12pt.) double-spaced with wide margins on one side of A4 size papers. Pages should be numbered consecutively. In general, the manuscript should be organised as follows: Title, followed by the name(s) of author(s) and address(es), Abstract, Key Words (not more than six (6) words) and Running titles (not more than six (6) words), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion (Results and Discussion may be combined),General Conclusions (if appropriate) and References. Acknowledgements (if any) may be included at the end of the text preceding the References cited. Each heading in the main text may be divided into sections and sub-sections.
The
placing of each Table and Figure should be indicated in the text. Each
Table and Figure, with their captions, should be submitted on separate
sheets and should be numbered according to the order of appearance in the
text. Citations of references in the text are by author(s) and year of
publication, e.g.: one
author: Smith (1998) or (Smith, 1998) two
authors: Smith & Gomez (1999) or (Smith & Gomez, 1999) three
authors: Smith et al. (1999) or (Smith et al.,
1999) multiple
references when within parentheses (Smith, 1990, 1998; Liu, 1999a, b;
2000; Kon, 2004)
In
the References, they should be in alphabetical order and conform to the
following format: For
Books, e.g.: Begon,

Study of Animals and Plants. (2nd ed.). Blackwell
Scientific Publications, Oxford. For
chapters in a book, e.g.: Esau,

Submission
of manuscripts
Manuscripts
should be submitted to the Editorial Office in triplicates (one original
and two copies). An electronic version of the manuscript on diskette (3.5
inch HD or DD diskette) must be submitted upon acceptance of the paper for
publication or when requested by the editor. Preference is for text
processed using Microsoft WinWord. All manuscripts are subjected to peer
review.
Submission
of the manuscript is understood to imply that it is original, unpublished,
and is not considered for publication elsewhere. Authors who wish to
republish an article or a significant part of it must obtain written
permission to reprint the material from the original publisher. There are
no charges for papers published. Authors will receive 25 free reprints. Editorial
