The aim of this paper is to evaluate the rock cut slope stability of Crocker Formation in the Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The main evaluation criterion is the optimum slope angle. Geological mapping, discontinuity survey and stereographic analysis have been conducted for this slope stability evaluation. The rocks outcrop were selected from CPSB Stone Quarry Sdn Bhd (slope B1, B3, B3 and B4) and Lakang Point (slope LP) in Tamparuli, Tuaran Hospital (slope TH) in Tuaran and Telipok-Sulaman bypass (slope TS1 east, TS1 west, TS2 east and TS2 west) in Telipok. Field observation shows that the wedge, planar and circular failures have potential to occur in four (slope B1, B2, TS1 west and TS2 east), two (slope B3 and B4) and one cut slopes (slope TH), respectively. Wedge failure is possibly to occur in another three cut slopes (slope LP, TS1 east and TS2 west). The optimum slope angle ranging from 25o to 70o depend on orientation and density of the discontinuities planes and mode of failures. In conclusions slope flattening with various angle, wire mesh and drainage ditches are proposed for the mitigation method.
