29th March, 2017 - Preparatory Centre of Science and Technology had successfully held Open Day 2017 on March 29th, 2017. A total of 253 visitors from 9 schools and local citizens around Kota Kinabalu joined the event. The schools involved are SMK Bandaraya, SM All Saints SMK Taun Gusi, SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha, SMK Bahang, SMK ST Francis Convent, SMK Limauan and SMK Badin.

This event is held for the first time at our new building which was officiated by Professor Datuk Dr. Mohd. Harun bin Abdullah, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Sabah, in the previous week. It brings opportunity to our students and public to see and experience the new facilities.

This yearly event provides an opportunity to expose UMS Science Foundation Program to the public. It also acts as a medium to introduce, promote and disseminate information about the Science Foundation Program offered and its prospect at Universiti Malaysia Sabah. Thus, it helps the secondary school students and SPM leavers to determine whether this is an appropriate program of study before filling in the online application of Unit Pusat Universiti (UPU).

During the event, visitors were given the opportunity to participate in various activities such as academic talk, students’ project exhibitions, laboratory experiment demonstrations, exciting activities and mini bazaar. The event received an overwhelming response from the visitors, especially students and teachers.
