Welcome to the homepage of the School of International Tropical Forestry (SITF), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
Our campus is located along the coastal range of the Sepangar lagoon and offers a splendid panoramic view oF the towering Mount Kinabalu of 4101m altitude. The campus is surrounded by the peaceful residential environment of the city of Kota Kinabalu which is the capital of the state of Sabah, dubbed as the "Land below the Wind". Our academic programmes commensurate with national and international academic standards and we maintain close professional linkages with universities and research institutions in Germany, the United Kingdom, Vietnam and Thailand.
Our location on the island of Borneo facilitates the access to one of the world's oldest natural forest heritage with a rich diversity in fauna and flora. Sabah's famous dipterocarp forests (4.7 million hectares), the well developed wood-based industries, and the scenic protected environments (0.9 million hectares) play a significant role in the socio-economic development of the state and offer ample opportunities for field studies and research.
