“From Segregation to Sustainable Positive Peace through Reconciliation and a Sustainable Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina”

This seminar will discuss the theme on peace education as an important facet of peacebuilding. This is based on a PhD work that made use of the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina (in the Balkan region, Europe). The case discussions include the phases of conflict and dynamics of the peacebuilding process.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Eleonora Emkic
Dr. Eleonora is a Bosnian from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). She recently completed her PhD in Political Science at Universiti Sains Malaysia in Pulau Pinang.
She has 15 years of work experience in the field of peacebuilding and peace education in Bosnia and Herzegovina in non-government organizations. Mainly she has been involved in building and enhancing capacities of local stakeholders toward political dialogue as alternative to armed violence in the Balkan area. Her work was also focused on building capacities through education of youth, their parents and wider community as part of the long term goals of social cohesion and peaceful co-exsistence. Dr. Eleonora completed her Masters degree in in Management in International Business at Grenoble School of Business France.
