FRIDAY, 11 APRIL –
The Rugby Match Refereeing Course Level 1 was organised by the International Rugby Board (IRB) in collaboration with the Residential College Cemerlang Dinamik (Kolej CD) Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) recently.
The course was held over two days and participated by 26 participants including three undergrads from the Sports Science Course of the School of Education and Development (SPPS) UMS.
One of the participants, Azlena Kula said that the course which required physical and mental strength was very beneficial to them.
Azlena, who was also one of the state players who represented Sabah in the Malaysian Rugby Team said that the organisation of the course was timely to improve the quality and knowledge of a referee, especially to former rugby players who were new to the Rugby Match Refereeing.
For UMS student, Mohd. Syarul Said felt lucky to have been selected to join the course as it was not only an international level course but one that was organised by IRB itself.
He said UMS students should take the opportunity to join such courses as a way to widen their knowledge and also to equip themselves to be more competitive so as to be more marketable in the job market.
The Refereeing Course Level 1 will also be held in Tawau, Sipitang and Sandakan. Meanwhile, the Advance Course Level 2 is expected to be held in November in Kota Kinabalu. – SS (fl) Source : Kolej CD
