MONDAY, 25 MAY – Members of the Housewives and Women Staff Club (KESUMBA) Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) led by its President, Datin Baidah Ibrahim took some time off from their gotong-royong programme to attend a one-day cooking and baking demonstration by Giat Mara trainees in a programme organised by the Child Development Centre (PPKK) UMS, recently.
On hand to receive the delegation was the Assistant Registrar of PPKK, Rohani Abdullah.
According to Rohani, PPKK made use of their Saturdays to organise courses or workshops related to their work especially for their staff to improve their knowledge and skills in childcare.
“Every month, two Saturdays are dedicated to courses and workshops for our staff where they will also collect MyCPD points individually. The courses or workshops among others include childcare handling, fire drill and cooking demonstration,” she said.
Last week, trainees from Giat Mara Malaysia held a cooking and baking demonstration for staff of PPKK and members of KESUMBA, on invitation by PPKK. The trainees were Alvin Majuna and Mohammad Danel Ahmad who were ‘incubators’ or entrepreneurs and assisted by a trainee, Azis Ismail.
Amongst some of the dishes taught were Daging Masak Malvari, Ikan Masak Sos Thai, Ayam Masak Tauchu, Apam Balik, Bingka Pandan and Kuih Bahulu. – FL
