THURSDAY, 7 AUGUST – Certain matters would be emphasised at the National Advisory Council (MPPK) over the period of 20140-2016.
According to the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd. Harun Abdullah, the key concern was to uphold education and towards national unity.
“There is no use if we are highly educated but its people do not live in unity and harmony,” he said during a press conference today.
Datuk Dr Harun added, as the sole member of the state, he would highlight the plight of the rural community so that they would not be sidelined in knowledge acquisition.
“I will bring this matter up for further discussion to ensure the plight of rural children in terms of education is guaranteed,” he said.
Datuk Dr. Harun was one of 11 new members appointed to the council. He was also the only Vice-Chancellor of a public university elected to be a member of the council and act as a think tank and advisor to the country’s educational development. – SS (fl)
