– Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) through the Management and Professional Employees Union (PPUMS) Non-Academic and the Development and Maintenance Department (JPP) joined hands in working together for the IM4U Mount Kinabalu Climb for Charity and Spirituality 2015 organised by the 7 Continents Exploration Club Malaysia.
According to the President of PPUMS, Hj Zawawi Tiyunin, of the 105 participants in the charity climb, UMS also sent 18 participants from among its members, staff and orphaned students.
“The programme which starts today and ends on Thursday, among others aims to provide opportunities for the orphans to experience mountain climbing which is also participated by some members of the media,” he told reporters after the opening ceremony.
He said, PPUMS supported such programme which was seen as able to help generate smart thinking and physical fitness.
“We will continue to support such programmes, particularly those involving UMS students who are our future leaders to gain experience that can help them to move forward,” he added.
Also present were the 7 Continent Exploration Club Malaysia cum Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Datuk Akmar Hisham Mohd Yusof; JPP UMS Director, Kamisah Hussein and the President of the 7 Continent Exploration Club Malaysia, Muhamad Muqharabbin Moktharrudin. – SS (fl)
