THURSDAY, 23 OCTOBER
– The Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition (FSMP), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) will be organising a ‘Sabah Ethnic Traditional Food Appreciation Day’ on 6 November 2014 (Thursday).
This programme is organised in conjunction with UMS’ 20th
anniversary celebrations this year.
The aim of this programme is to expose locals and visitors alike in understanding the cooking methods and characteristics of certain ethnics in Sabah. It is also to introduce research results relating to the anthropology or heritage of food done by UMS researchers. This is also a way to conserve the culture of the locals in Sabah.
A local ethnic food sale, including traditional food preparation and a research exhibition are also planned for the event which will start from 9.00 am – 4.30 pm at the Foyer, FSMP. Various other interesting activities and games have also been planned.
For those who would like to showcase their culinary skills, a cooking competition will also be held. The closing date for registration is on 31 October 2014.
