The involvement of undergraduates in students activities would help built their soft skills and identity in shaping academic excellence as needed in the working world.
According to the Vice-Chancellor of UMS, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah, the incompatibility between the course and graduate was seen to be the stumbling block in the deciding factor towards a career path but which now cannot be considered as the dominant factor, instead students should be innovative in applying the knowledge learned.
Datuk Dr. Harun was speaking at the Introduction of University and Principal Officers to the new intake in conjunction with the Orientation Week.
He added that those with knowledge but do not know how to apply them might not be competent.
“But those who are knowledgeable and able to apply them would surely be successful,’ he said.
Also present were the the Principal Officers, Deans and Head of Departments in UMS. - FL
