Universiti Malaysia Sabah provides an impressive range of postgraduate programmes from Masters Degrees to Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Most are offered on a full time and part time basis. Practical in approach, they are designed to respond to the requirements of both career-minded graduates and prospective employers. The Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CPS) is entrusted with the responsibility for the effective administration of the postgraduate study programme at UMS.

The University’s distinctive strength lies in providing high quality teaching and research with a strong professional and applied focus.  Collaboration, in both academic and professional communities, is the cornerstone of the success of both our taught and research programmes of study. Courses are developed in discussion with employers and working professionals to ensure their relevance to industry, commerce and the public sector. Our research units maintain partnership locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

The facilities at UMS are excellent. Being one of the ‘youngest’ public higher institutions in the nation therefore most of our academic buildings are new and have been purpose built for higher education. The Centre for Postgraduate Studies enrols qualified students from different backgrounds. This contributes to an exciting learning environment for both staff and students.

MAIN FUNCTION OF UNIT

1. Administration and General Financial Section

To plan and coordinate all matters of administration, governant and financial of CPS runs smoothly and accordingly. This unit is being handled by Mrs. Sharifah Rofidah (Ext. 1323)

2. Student’s Affair, Financial and Scholarship Section

To ensure all matters of student’s affair being handled smoothly including scholarships, CPS Funds and International students. This unit is being handled by Mrs. Jumawati Catacutan (1177)

3. Admission, Registration and Student’s Record Section

To plan and coordinate all matters on student’s intake and admission, offered courses, registration and to monitor the record progress of all postgraduate students. This unit is being handled by Mr. Norazmi Haris. (Ext. 2608)

4. Examination and Graduation Section

To plan and coordinate affairs and activities related to student’s examination and graduation. This unit is being handled by Mr. Azlan Awang. (1316)

5. Information System and Data Processing Section

To develop and maintain the Postgraduate Information Systen and to provide informations on studen’s data including statistics from registration to graduation.  This unit is being handled by Mr Awang Lamsari Saupi. (2609)

6. Commercial Programme Unit

To plan and coordinate all matters on student’s intake and admission, offered courses, registration including to monitor the record progress of students and all affairs of examination and graduation for students taking commercial programmes. This unit is under  UMS Holding Link and being handled by Mr. Hazmi Hashim  (Ext. 8259)
