DIPLOMA IN NURSING (MN)

INTRODUCTION

The Nursing Program begins with the offering of the Nursing Diploma Program in 2008. Started with only 30 students with only 1 lecturer and 2 tutors now up to the latest year, the Nursing Diploma Program has 60 students per session and lecturers have also increased to 11 academic staff (1 Associate Professor, 10 Nursing Lecturers) and 11 clinical instructors.

The Diploma of Nursing Programme has been designed to:

  • Equip nursing students with sound knowledge and skills required for professional nursing practice.
  • Provide a solid educational foundation from which students may proceed to higher levels of nursing education
  • Value and nurture creativity in developing human potential; and
  • Encourage students to be both critical thinkers and independent lifelong learners.

In order to achieve these attributes, students are required to be proactive in all of educational activities of the Programme.

Entry Requirement

Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with 5 credits Credit in Mathematics; Credit in Science (General Science/ Pure Science – Biology/ Chemistry/ Physics); and 3 other subjects Pass in: Bahasa Malaysia; and English.

Duration of Study

The duration for this programme is three years (6 semesters). However, students may extend the period to six years (12 semesters) with permission from the Senate of University.
