INTRODUCTION

Health Promotion Program (EC1773) is a module is a co-curricular programme specialising in early exposure to rural communities. This will introduce the concepts of Health promotion, reveal the health promotion needs and priorities, and solve the limitations and issues. The students will be trained to develop skills in planning, methodology and strategies of health promotion to conduct effectively in various areas, especially in rural communities. This module helps the students to carry out the health promotion project in a selected area.

OBJECTIVES

  • To describe the concepts and principles of health promotion
  • To acquire knowledge and skills relevant to the assessment of the community diagnosis by using qualitative and quantitative approaches.
  • To identify the limitation and issues of health promotion and its solution
  • To formulate the strategic plan and able to conduct the health promotion program
  • To apply methodology and strategies of health promotion effectively
  • To evaluate the effectiveness and success of the health promotion programme
  • To cooperate in practical field work with effective teamwork to conduct health promotion in various remote rural areas

Health Promotion Program 2023

Pelancaran Program Promosi Kesihatan EC1773 telah dirasmikan oleh YBrs Prof Madya Dr Fairul Masnah @ Kadir, Timbalan Dekan Akademik dan Antarabangsa FPSK pada 18 Sept 2023. Program ini melibatkan 87 Pelajar Perubatan Tahun 1 dan 28 Pelajar Kejurawatan Tahun 2 sesi akademik 2022/2023.

Objektif utama adalah untuk memberi pendedahan awal mengenai kesihatan komuniti serta faktor-faktor yang boleh mempengaruhi kesihatan di kalangan masyarakat setempat. Pelajar seterusnya akan merancang aktiviti promosi kesihatan yang bersesuaian. Program kali ini melibatkan 5 kampung di Daerah Kundasangn iaitu Kg Bundu Tuhan, Kinasaraban, Pinosouk, Dumpiring Bawah dan Semuroh serta 5 kampung lagi di Daerah Ranau iaitu Kg Kinapulidan, Lohan Ulu, Marakau, Tagudon Baru dan Silou. Diharap program yang akan berlangsung mulai 18 hingga 26 September ini akan mendedahkan pelajar kepada isu-siu kesihatan di komuniti serta merapatkan lagi hubungan di antara UMS amnya dan FPSK khususnya dengan masyarakat setempat.
