ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS (BY RESEARCH)
Applicants should possess the following qualification:
Master Programme (By Research)
- A Bachelors’s degree in related field with minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent from Universiti Malaysia Sabah or any other higher institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah; or
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting CGPA 2.75, can be accepted subject to internal assessment approved by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah; or
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in relevant field.
Master of Philosophy Programme
- A Bachelor’s degree with Honours with CGPA of 3.00 and above from Universiti Malaysia Sabah or any other institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah;
- Master of Philosophy candidates may be admitted into a Doctor of Philosophy programme depending on a satisfactory study progress in the first year.
Doctor of Philosophy Programme
- A Master’s degree from Universiti Malaysia Sabah or any other institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah; or other qualification equivalent to a Master’s degree and relevant experiences recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO
- Submit substantial evidence of financial status such as bank and sponsor’s guarantee letters and other supporting documents to ensure that the candidates are financially able to further their studies at Universiti Malaysia Sabah;
- Candidates from non-English speaking countries must submit an English language test result of either IELTS [minimum Band 5] or TOEFL [minimum 500/173].

Full-time : 2 – 6 semesters
Part-time : 4 – 8 semesters
PHD
Full-time : 4 – 8 semesters
Part-time : 6 – 12 semesters

Master Programme (By Coursework)
- A Bachelor’s degree with minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent from Universiti Malaysia Sabah or any other higher institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah; or
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in relevant field; or
- Applicants are subject to meet additional requirement specified by Faculties/Centre/Institutes.
Master Programme (By Mixed Mode)
- A Bachelor’s degree with minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent from Universiti Malaysia Sabah or any other higher institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah; or
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting CGPA of 2.75, can be accepted subject to internal assessment approved by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah; or
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in relevant field.

DELAY OF ADMISSION
Candidates who are accepted but have yet to register may opt to delay their admission registrations by no less than one semester but no more than two semesters by submitting a written application to the Dean of Centre for Postgraduate Studies within four [4] weeks from the registration date. The offer will be void should the candidate fail to apply and therefore delays the admission registration within the stated period. After this period, a new admission application must be submitted.
