SUBJECT: EUROPEAN SCHOOL OF SUSTAINABILITY SCIENCE AND RESEARCH- DOCTORAL PROGRAMME BY PUBLICATIONS

The newly-launched European School of Sustainability Science and Research (ESSSR)
https://www.haw-hamburg.de/en/ftz-nk/about-us/esssr.html in Hamburg, was created in order to foster the cause of sustainable development and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, by means of research projects, innovative teaching programmes, publications and doctoral training. ESSSR founding members are: Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University of Uppsala (Sweden), University of Coimbra (Portugal), University of Malta (Malta),  University Aberta (Portugal), Manchester Metropolitan University (UK),  Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), University of Florence (Italy),
Lodz University of Technology (Poland), University of Latvia (Latvia),

Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia). ESSSR also has a number of associate members. Interested organisations are welcome to contact ESSSR to obtain details on how to become  associate members of ESSSR.

ESSSR is pleased to announce the Doctoral Programme on Sustainability Science. A special feature of this programme, is that it is targetted to personnel working at universities (lecturers, associate professors, assistant professors), who do not yet have a PhD, but have at least 5 years´ work experience, and already have some publications. As the title implies, the award of the PhD will be based on a set of publications, which candidates need to produce as part of the programme. The PhD by publications is as rigorous as conventional PhD programmes, and  the award is not different than any conventional doctoral award. The only difference that the emphasis is on the excellence and academic outputs of candidates, by means of peer-reviewed publications.

Potential candidates interested to obtain further details on the programme, and on the requirements for admission and completion, should contact the ESSSR Team:
