Accounting Research Seminar 2017 Organised By UMS Accounting Centre

TUESDAY, 8 AUGUST -  The UMS Accounting Centre, Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy (FPEP), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) recently organised the Accounting Research Seminar 2017.

The one-day seminar was participated by 30 staff and students of UMS and 16 external participants. The external participants consisted of staff from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sabah and University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) and a postgraduate student from University of Malaya (UM).

The seminar started off with a keynote speech entitled “Contemporary Issues in Accounting Research: The Way Forward” by Professor Dr. Rasid Hj. Mail, Dean, Centre for Postgraduate Studies, UMS who is also a Professor in the Accounting field at FPEP, UMS.

A total of nine presentations was made during the seminar comprising of six presenters FPEP, UMS and three presenters from Faculty of Economics and Business, UNIMAS.

The main objective of organising the seminar was to provide an opportunity for researchers in the accounting field to present the findings of their completed and ongoing research. In addition, the seminar was also an avenue for researchers to exchange ideas and network.

The Accounting Centre, FPEP, UMS planned to hold similar seminars on an annual basis involving participants and institutions of higher learning in East Malaysia and the surrounding region.
