UMS Vice-Chancellor Breaks Fast with UMSKAL Staff

buka puasa umskalMONDAY, 07 JULY – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah recently attended the breaking of fast with staff of UMS Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL).

He also performed the Maghrib prayers, Isyak and Tarawih which was headed by the Mufti of Sabah, Ustaz Haji Bongsu Jaafar.

Ustaz Bongsu also presented his Tazkirah to the congregation at the Al-Hikmah Mosque.

Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Sharif Omang Al-Haj, UMS Registrar, Datuk Abdullah Hj Mohd. Said and UMSKAL Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ismail Ali.

At the event, a total of six UMSKAL staff received contributions from Dr. Mohd Harun.

In his speech, Dr. Mohd Harun hoped that Muslim staff of UMSKAL would seize this golden opportunity during Ramadan to practice more charitable deeds such as reciting the Quran and performing the Tarawih prayers and to give alms to the needy.

In addition, he was confident that the spirit of Ramadan would strengthen ties between the management and staff of the university with the lecturers and students.

“We must take advantage of the opportunities in the month of Ramadan, which can only be enjoyed once a year. Tighten up and strengthen unity amongst the university’s management, lecturers, staff and students of the university,” he added. - (fl)
