TUESDAY, 11 FEBRUARY – The Information Technology and Communication Department (JTMK) conducted a knowledge and community mission with the villagers of Kampung Kuala Laut, Papar in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) level recently.

The programme was simultaneously held at Surau Nurul Hikmah and 1Malaysia Village Centre and was officiated by state assemblyman (ADUN) Pantai Manis, Datuk Haji Abdul Rahim Ismail.

In his speech, he urged that such activities be further intensified, not only to commemorate the birth of the prophet Muhammad s.a.w. but as a good practice which should be continued.

 He also praised the efforts of UMS in giving donations to the residents of the village.

Over 30 JTMK staff along with the villagers had a gotong royong to clean the surrounding areas of the surau and 1Malaysia Centre. At the same time, a special class on the use of Microsoft software to primary school students was conducted in a pleasant atmosphere.

Prayer mats, rihal, PA system, grass-cutter, carpets, white boards and surah Yassin manuscript were also handed over to the management of Surau Nurul Hikmah, Kampung Kuala Laut and Surau Ar-Rahimi, Kampung Laut Papar. – MAA [FL]
