UMS To Be in Malaysian Tourism Map

ekopelancongan2WEDNESDAY, 1 OCTOBER – The management of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) aimed to put the university in the Malaysian Tourism map after launching the EcoTourism Campus recently.
 
According to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah, the effort will set to make UMS as a must-visit for tourists while in the state.
 
“UMS has its own distinctiveness and uniqueness. Its landscape is surrounded by white sandy beaches besides forests, hills and a beautiful view of Mount Kinabalu. This is sure to give an extraordinary experience for visitors,” he said.
 
He added that the existence of the Institute for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ITBC) UMS with various specimens of the species of flora and fauna can be one of the tourist attractions.
 
“In the forest of ITBC, you can find frog species endemic to Sabah, as well as complete specimen collection of flora and fauna in Asia. We also have the largest ant in the world which is kept at the Bornensis Collection (public gallery),” he added.
 
Among the locations that can be visited in UMS are the Borneo Marine Research Institute (BMRI) which houses the Marine Museum and Aquarium, Medical Museum, Academic and Research Gallery and UMS Museum.
 
UMS is currently in a discussion to price travel packages with cooperation from Angkatan Hebat Sdn Bhd travel agent. – ZMD (fl)
