‘A Step to the Ivory Tower’ Attracted Huge Crowd in Sandakan

SDKpicSATURDAY, 6 APRIL – The educational tour programme ‘A Step to the Ivory Tower’ attracted a huge crowd at this eastern part of Sabah after making stopovers across the districts of Kota Marudu, Penampang, Beaufort and Tuaran. 

The programme organised by the Student Affairs Department (HEP), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) received overwhelming response as can be seen at their booth at Harbour Mall Sandakan.

More than 500 people comprising parents and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) school leavers including matriculation and diploma holders visited the booth to obtain further details about UMS and its courses.

A total of 14 exhibition booths took part in this programme which include the Sandakan Municipal Council, Royal Malaysian Police, Takaful Malaysia, Tabung Haji, Bank Rakyat, National Anti-Dadah Agency, Labour Department and the Sandakan Industrial Training Institute.

A talk on enrolment to undergraduate courses and science foundation course were also conducted.  Visitors were also briefed on the comprehensive range of postgraduate courses offered by UMS.  The educational tour programme was officiated by the Director of Alumni Centre UMS, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahmud Sudin.
