15 UMS Students to Join Diplomat Student Attachment Training at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Anifah-5072MONDAY, 18 MAY – 15 Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students will participate in the diplomat student attachment training programme at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs starting August.

The programme organised by the ministry would see a group of UMS students in various faculties and disciplines of learning attached at Wisma Putra throughout the training period.

Foreign Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Anifah Aman presented credentials to 15 students involved in the Publicity and Public Diplomacy Programme: Malaysia Agreement 1963 Forum Series II, at the Main Lecture Hall Complex 2, UMS recently.

Through this programme, students will learn about communication skills and training, self image, presentation and other skills that will enable them to understand and practice ethics when dealing with international delegations.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Sri Anifah who acted as the moderator of the forum suggested that a special committee be formed to study issues related to the rights of the people of Sabah.

According to him, the forum was held to discuss solutions and consensus not only among local leaders but the community of this state.

“The special committee should review the most important issues including the 20 points, Malaysia Agreement 1963 and the preparation of a memorandum on the rights of the people of Sabah,” he said.

Some panel members involved were also seen giving their comments and views in this forum that included the former Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Yong Teck Lee; Bingkor Assemblyman, Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan; UMS lecturer, Dr. Ramzah Dambul; political activist, Zainnal Ajamain; lawyer, Haji Ansari Abdullah and Edward Bon.

Also present were the Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Hjh. Zainab Datuk Seri Panglima Hj. Ahmad Ayid, Vice-Chancellor of UMS, Professor Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah, Acting Registrar of UMS, No’man Hj Ahmad, and former cabinet ministers among them were Tan Sri Herman Luping, Tan Sri Majid Khan and Datuk Ayub Aman. – SM/MA (fl)
