Gempa-6743FRIDAY, 19 JUNE – Various concerned parties came forward to render assistance to the residents of Ranau who are affected by the mud slides recently.

Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) through the Chancellery Department also initiated a donation drive and distributed 999 boxes of mineral water to the Ranau Hospital and Ar-Rahman Mosque. With five lorries laden with the mineral water boxes, all contributions were safely delivered yesterday to both the locations.

The contributions were presented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Professor Dr. Shahril Yusof along with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic and International, Professor Dr. D. Kamarudin D Mudin.

The donation was from concerned staff of UMS and the surrounding communities who immediately sent their contributions to the Chancellery Department when the collection centre was opened on Wednesday. Some other contributions will be initiated by UMS in helping the victims of the recent earthquake and the residents who are affected by the flood.

UMS had earlier contributed cash donation amounting to RM24,000 to the Mountain Guides Association and the next of kin of those who perished during the 5 June 2015 tragedy. – SS (fl)
