Program SahurTUESDAY, 23 JUNE – The Students Welfare Committee (JAKMAS) Tun Mustapha Residential College (KKTM), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) recently organised a Sahur and Iftar Programme.

According to a spokesman of KKTM JAKMAS, Nur Syazlin Syafiqah Mohd Zabidi, besides strengthening relationships among residents of the residential colleges, it also lessens the longing to fast and break fast with family members back home.

“Through this programme, residents of KKTM have the chance to mingle with the management and JAKMAS,” he said, when met by media. He also expressed his gratitude for the presence of all students of KKTM who practiced the sahur and the breaking fast together regardless of race and religion.

“JAKMAS would also like to express its gratitude to all parties who together made this Sahur and Iftar programme a success,” he said, adding that more than 800 students participated in the programme. Meanwhile, the Head of KKTM, Dr. Nizam Mohd Nazaruddin said, this programme was an effort not only as a religious act but also to reinforce unity among race and religions.

“We rarely see the breaking of fast and fasting among residents with different religions, this is the uniqueness of Sabah especially at Tun Mustapha Residential College. “I applaud the efforts by JAKMAS who work together in preparing for the food and this practice should be continued,” he said, and was grateful to organisations and individuals who contributed to the success of the programme.

Besides Sahur and Iftar, the programme also included tarawih among Muslims of KKTM. – SS (fl)
