MONDAY, 16 DECEMBER – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) continues to pursue excellence through notable achievements by winning several awards at the exhibition and awards ceremony both at national and international levels.

Recently, UMS won the Best Career Development Centre for Public Universities at the Malaysia’s 100 Leading Graduate Employer Awards 2015 held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Vice-Chancellor of UMS, Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Harun Abdullah said, he was proud of the success achieved by UMS in winning the award.

“We have been trying to enhance the marketability of UMS graduates by organising career fairs and fostering good relations with industry players in providing industrial training for our graduands,” explained Datuk Harun through his official Facebook page.

According to the Director of Industrial Relations Centre (PHI) UMS, Associate Professor Dr. How Siew Eng, this success gave the confidence to faculties that UMS graduates could meet the needs of human resources needed for the industry.

“The focus adopted by PHI is to build sustainable relationship with the industry.  This includes activities that can bring benefits to both sides,” said Dr. How after receiving the award.

The award was presented by Malaysian Talent Development-Graduate Employability Unit, Talent Corporation, Puan Siti Norliza Mohd Sahar.

“The victory today is also the result of a review by GTI Media and the involvement with Talent Corporation Berhad,” she further explained.

The Higher Education minister, Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh also sent his congratulations to UMS through his Facebook and Twitter. - CD (fl)
