FRIDAY, 08 JANUARY – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) recorded an increase in visitors to its Medical Museum last year according to its curator, Faranizah Taufick.

She said a total of 2,251 visitors were recorded during the year, an increase of 146 visitors compared to 2,105 in 2014.

“We received visitors from various agencies including school students, among them were from the Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College Brunei Darussalam, Sekolah Menengah Agama Limbang, Sekolah Menengah Sains Sabah, Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Gaya and Kolej Sains Kesihatan Bersekutu Kota Kinabalu,” she said when contacted by university media.

She added that the increase in visitors were driven by an increase in human anatomy specimens that had been preserved using plastination technique.

“The visits has enabled the Medical Museum last year to generate revenue of RM2,857 through entrance fee charged to all visitors,” she further stated.

Operating under the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the museum is open every day except Mondays and Public Holidays between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm.

A fee of RM3.20 is charged to visitors over 18 years old and RM2.20 for visitors under 17 years old. – (fl)
