UMS Signs MoU with MIH

WEDNESDAY, 6 APRIL – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) today carved another milestone to the Malaysian Commercialisation Year 2016 by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysia Innovation Hub (MIH).

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah said the MoU would also support the government’s effort to foster and enhance the Innovation Ecosystem Shift 7, of the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2013-2025.

“This MoU will boost commercialisation with the creation of new industries through the establishment of university production company, opening up new employment opportunities to the community,” he said when speaking at the ceremony held at the Executive Board Room of UMS, yesterday.

He said, UMS research and innovation products also had the potential to be commercialised up to international level.

The MoU signing was represented by Datuk Harun and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Innovation, Professor Dr. Shahril Yusof, whilst MIH was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Wong Wai Sang and the Managing Director, Eric Lo Kian Vui.

Datuk Harun said, the cooperation signed included the sharing of technical expertise from UMS and the commercialisation expertise of MIH.

“In addition, we will also share the use of research facilities and equipment available at UMS and the resources at MIH,” he said.
