UMS International Conference Links Asia and Europe Researchers

TUESDAY, 05 AUGUST – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) through the Kadazandusun Chair once again hosted the 12th International Borneo Research Council for three day starting today.

The conference focused on social research, medicine, environmental science and biology in Borneo, covering Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan.

UMS Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah in his welcoming address said the conference was a catalyst for cooperation between the countries involved in the research and development of Borneo in the future.

“The conference is expected to strengthen the existing friendship network in order to increase knowledge and accelerate development,” he said. His speech was read by Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Shahril Yusof.

The conference titled ‘Diversity and Dynamism in Borneo’ feature research participants and presenters from all over Southeast Asia, Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun representing the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Hj Aman. - ZMD (fl)
