Praise be to Allah, Who preferred humankind over many of the creations with definite preference and made human tongues meant to reveal the secrets of hearts. It is a pleasure to me, and on behalf of my colleagues to welcome you to our Faculty. Faculty Of Islamic Studies (FIS) was approved by the UMS Senate at the 182nd meeting No. 1, 2021 on 21 February 2021. The UMS Board Meeting approved the formation of FIS on 23 March 2021 in the LPU meeting on the 98th Bill: 3/2021. The Ministry of Higher Education in a letter dated 10 May 2021 has endorsed the establishment of the Faculty of Islamic Studies.

 

The mission of FIS is to ensure the long-term viability of Islamic studies disciplines at Universiti Malaysia by developing new disciplines concentrating on specific requirements in Islamic studies, such as Syariah and Usuluddin. FIS will satisfy the demands of Islamic educational institutions in the Borneo region, particularly in Sabah, that colour the discipline of Islamic studies, as well as the needs of the local communities as a continuation of secondary-level learning to a higher level.

 

It is hoped that the establishment of this faculty of Islamic studies will give light to the field of knowledge and further benefit the community by introducing the concept of ‘UMS Kampus Rahmah’
