Welcome to the Faculty of Sustainable Agriculture (FPL) website, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Sandakan.
Agriculture is an important activity for human survival. The strength of a country can be measured by its ability to produce adequate, safe, and nutritious food. However, agriculture is becoming increasingly difficult due to unpredictable weather conditions caused by global warming and existing resource scarcity. Therefore, agriculture must be managed with modern and smart technologies and led by excellent professionals to ensure that the current generation's needs can be met without compromising the needs of future generations.
We believe that human resources are the most important asset to ensure a successful agricultural sector. Therefore, we are determined to produce well-balanced graduates with sound knowledge and high skills so that they can compete at the national and international levels. The four-year undergraduate program at FPL provides students with theoretical and practical knowledge of agriculture. Students are also trained to think in solving problems and are instilled with an entrepreneurial culture so that they are better prepared for a future full of uncertainties.
FPL provides a conducive environment for learning and research. The faculty in Sandakan, Sabah, has an area of 99 hectares, 70% of which is used for crops and livestock. FPL is equipped with facilities such as lecture halls, studios, laboratories, and farms. Students can study conveniently as the dormitory is in close proximity to all learning facilities. Recreational facilities and community clinics are also available to ensure students' health. The quiet and harmonious campus atmosphere under the beautiful sky is suitable to relieve the fatigue of studying. In addition, Sandakan, which is known as a city of nature, offers a variety of delicious seafood and various tourist attractions.
