Subject

: Updating of lecturer’s publishing information in Google Scholar

Greetings.

UMS Web Site Committee Meeting has decided for all lecturer to update their publication information in Google Scholar (GSC).

The main purposes of this activity are:

  • To ensure the information in Google Scholar is correct and accurate.
  • To promote expertise of the university.
  • Increase the academic impact of university’s lecturer.
  • Increase the visibility of UMS globally.

Top 2000 Universities By Google Scholar Citations conducted by Webometrics from December 2015 listed, subject to the following:

  1. The head of the list is excluded for improving representativeness. For the rest of the top 10 (maximum 9 profiles) the number of citations are added and the institutions are ranked in descending order of this indicator. If there are several entries for the same author, only the best profile is not used penalizing cleaning duplicates from the list.
  2. Setting up a personal profile in Google Scholar Citations database is needed, not only to promote the lecturer but also to promote the university. Responsibility for the correctness of information belongs to the author. GSC automatically updates the publication information which is very practical but that sometimes adds non-pertinent records and citations to the profile. Authors should be aware of these issues and periodically clean their profiles.
  3. UMS Webometrics Team will monitor the activities. List of lecturer in Google Scholar (GSC) will be emailed to the Web Manager and Assistant Registrar in all faculties.

For the record, the *position of UMS are as follows:
