FRIDAY, 19 DECEMBER – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) through its Faculty of Science and Natural Resources (FSSA) will collaborate with the Asian Chemical Biology Initiative (ACBI) team in promoting chemical biology throughout Asia and to accelerate international collaborations in the region.

Speaking during a brief meeting with top-notch researchers of ACBI, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and International), Prof. Dr. Shahril Yusof said that we can learn the social aspects of pharmacological where all the indigenous people were using herbs in the jungle, and the use of the chemicals in it.

“I believe topical medicine should also be explored,” he added, whilst acknowledging and thanking the guest researchers who would be doing tutorial lectures with students of UMS.

Meanwhile, Prof. Motonari Uesugi of Kyoto University (Japan) who was the chief organiser of ACBI Kota Kinabalu stressed that they would develop collaborations and train the people of Sabah in Japan.

Also present at the meeting held at the Main Meeting Room of FSSA were seven experts in chemical biology from other universities in Japan, Korea and Singapore besides UMS researchers and lecturers. – FL
