UMS Sent 500 Volunteers to Beach Cleanup

sukarelawan pantaiMONDAY, 30 JUNE – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) recently sent 500 undergrads as beach cleaners volunteers to the Tanjung Lipat Likas beach.

The university through the Student Affairs and Alumni Department (HEP) had sent the undergrads as an effort to create awareness on environmental care and beach cleanliness among students.

According to an official of the department, Rohani Hadi, it was also to get the undergrads involved in community service.

Speaking when contacted by Chancellery Media, she said the programme started from 6.00 to 11.00 am and was part of the Astro programme, My Beautiful Malaysia.

She said UMS also sent some representatives to the art competition which was also part of the same programme.

The ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun representing the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr.) Musa Hj. Aman. – SS (fl)
