Students Traced Ethnics Diversity in Sabah

THURSDAY, 12 JUNE – 65 students joined ‘Program Dokumentari Jejak 214’ organized by Secretariat of Rukun Negara Universiti Malaysia Sabah (SRUMS).

Programme coordinator, Kim Asbiyallah Shah Akim, the programme is intended to track 214 ethnics in Sabah.

“Dusun ethnic in Kundasang and Kudat is one of them. The students are divided into two groups. They are later become foster to the family at Walai Tokou Homestay Kundasang and Misompuru Homestay Kudat,” she said to the Media Chancellory.

She said, various activities conducted throughout the programme. One of them is learning the daily life of Dusun ethnic in Kundasang and Rungus in Kudat.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Madya Datuk Dr. Kasim Hj. Md. Mansur said, the programme is in accordance to the objective of founding Secretariat of Rukun Negara under the Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN).

“Hence, I give my full supports to the students’ efforts in tracing the ecthnics in Sabah, especially the ethnics that are some of the community in this country still unfamiliar with,” he added.

The five days program is organized with supports from Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor (KUIS), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Kedah. –SS–
