MONDAY, 15 SEPTEMBER – In order to ensure that quality service delivery and efficiency through ICT can be implemented, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) started on its framework for the development of UMS ICT Strategic Plan (PSICT) 2015-2017, with support and guidance from a team of strategic consultants from the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU).

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd. Harun Abdullah said the UMS ICT Strategic Plan development initiatives was a strategic step in the coaching and handholding collaborative approach between UMS and MAMPU in efforts to make ICT a catalyst towards transformation in making public learning institutions to be innovative, sustainable and relevant.

“The rationale for the development of UMS ICT Strategic Plan is to clarify the direction, development and use of ICT UMS, focused working environment in an organisation that is integrated with the latest ICT, providing comprehensive ICT plan, organised and systematic way, creating a system of monitoring and evaluation in the management and provision of ICT facilities, as well as a source of reference to improve the delivery system,” he said.

He was speaking at the PSICT Kick-Off Committee Meeting 2015-2017 at UMS Gallery.

He added that the ICT strategic development plan approach was centred on the UMS Strategic Plan 2013-2017 and in line with the ISP guidelines of the Malaysian public sector and goals of the National Higher Education Strategic Plan (PSPTN).

At the ceremony, UMS was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Shahril Yusof, while MAMPU was represented by its Chief Strategic Consultant, Dr. Zainuddin Mat Taib.

Both parties signed the project charter document as a sign of the successful collaboration of UMS PSICT which was expected to be completed in April next year. – MA (fl)
