DPM Witness Handing Over of Residential College Keys

The Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today witnessed the handing over of the key to the student Residential College Sri Angkasa, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in conjunction with the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister with students of UMS and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) at the Chancellor Hall of this EcoCampus university.

The handing over of keys from the developer Bina Puri Holdings Sdn Bhd represented by its Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Ir. Wong Foon Meng to the Vice-Chancellor of UMS, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd. Harun Abdullah was witnessed by the Chief Minister of Sabah cum Pro-Chancellor of UMS, Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Hj. Aman.

Located about two kilometres from UMS main campus, the residential college is made up of three blocks of apartments consisting 384 units with an area of 840 square feet per unit.

Today, a total of 2,688 students consisting of 1,792 female students and 896 male students are taking residence there which is equipped with a management office, student association office, meeting room and 24 hour security control including CCTV.

The residential college also offers first class facilities such as health clinic, cafeteria, laundry, bookstore, recreation centre, swimming pool and jogging track.

Also present at the ceremony were the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment cum Education Exco Sabah, Datuk Masidi Manjun; Sabah State Secretary, Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman; Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education Malaysia, Datuk Dr. Madinah Mohamad; Deputy Vice-Chancellor Student Affairs and Alumni UiTM, Prof. Dato’ Abdullah Mohamad Said and members of the Board of Directors UMS. – FL
