Collaboration
@FPT
The Faculty of Tropical Forestry at Universiti Malaysia Sabah actively fosters collaborations with national and international organisations to advance tropical forest research, education, and conservation. Through strategic partnerships, the Faculty promotes collaborative efforts in tropical biodiversity conservation, sustainable resource management, and ecosystem restoration. These collaborations involve faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, co-supervision of theses, and the organisation of academic events such as seminars and conferences. The Faculty leverages Sabah’s vast forested landscapes, which cover approximately 63 percent of the state’s area, as a living laboratory for applied tropical forestry research. These partnerships strengthen the Faculty’s role in producing impactful research and capacity building for sustainable forest management on both regional and global scales, aligning with international biodiversity and sustainability goals. This collaborative approach enables sharing expertise, resources, and innovative practices to address pressing challenges in tropical forestry and conservation.
