Programme Overview

This programme introduces students to the social issues by using the main concepts, theories, methodologies and research in the disciplines of Sociology and Anthropology. The programme offers courses such as Introduction to Anthropology, Introduction to Sociology, Urban Anthropology, Rural Sociology, Race and Ethnic Relations, Industrial Sociology, Kinship and Marriage, Social Stratification and Inequality, Anthropology of Religion, Economic Anthropology, Environmental Sociology, Sociology of Gender, Borneo Ethnography, Sociology of Organisations, Sociology of Tourism, Sociology of Migration, Qualitative Research Method and Quantitative Research Method.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

SPM

Possess the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) with a minimum of:

Grade C in Malay Language / Malay Language (July Paper)
Grade E in History for examinations from 2013 onwards.

STPM

Pass the Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) examination with a minimum of:

Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00
Grade C in General Studies
Two (2) Grade Cs in any other subjects not included above

MUET

Obtain a minimum of Band 1.0 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations commencing from Session 1 of 2021, with a validity period of five (5) years from the date of issuance of the test results.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Obtain a minimum CGPA of 2.50 at STPM level.
Obtain a minimum of Band 2.0 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for results obtained from Session 1 of 2021, with a validity period of five (5) years from the date of issuance of the test results.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

SPM

Possess the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) with a minimum of:

Grade C in Malay Language / Malay Language (July Paper)
Grade E in History for examinations from 2013 onwards.

STAM

Obtain at least:

Jayyid in the Malaysian Higher Religious Certificate (STAM) examination.

MUET

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Obtain at least Jayyid at STAM level.
Obtain a minimum of Band 2.0 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for results obtained from Session 1 of 2021, with a validity period of five (5) years from the date of issuance of the test results.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

DIPLOMA - PUBLIC UNIVERSITY/POLYTECHNIC/COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Possess a Diploma qualification from IPTA/ILKA/IPTS or any other qualification recognised as equivalent by the Government of Malaysia and approved by the University Senate.

MUET

Obtain a minimun of Band 1.0 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) foe examinations commencing from Session 1 of 2021, with a validity period of five (5) years from the date of issuance of the test results.

SPM

Possess the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) with a minimun of :

Grade C in Malay Language/Malay Language (July Paper)
Grade E in History for examinations from onwards

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possess a relevent Diploma from an educational institution recognised by the Senate of University Malaysia Sabah
Obtain a minimun of Band 2.0 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations commencing from Session 1 of 2021, with a validity period of five (5) years from the date of issuance of the test results
