MONDAY, 07 APRIL – About 40 undergraduates from four universities attended the ‘Pre-conference Colloquium On Campus Sustainability For Students’ workshop held at the Galeri, Chancellery Building, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) to gain knowledge concerning environment.According to UMS Student Ambassador, Jong E. Cheng, participants in this workshop comprised undergraduates from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, Palawan State University and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
“This workshop is organised to provide awareness among students on campus sustainability associated to the care, conservation and the love for our environment in the campus,” he said when met at the tree planting session at the Chancellery Building this afternoon.
He added that the tree-planting session was the conclusion to the one-day workshop held today.
“Apart from lectures and theories which is held in the morning, the outdoor activities included visit to the orchid garden, tree performance evaluation as well as tree-planting in the afternoon,” he added, joining other undergraduates in planting 20 sandalwood trees.
This one-day workshop was jointly organised by the Office For International Affairs and EcoCampus Management Centre of UMS. – CD (fl)
