MONDAY, 7 DECEMBER – The Extravaganza Programme organised by the Exco of Arts and Culture Students Welfare Committee (JAKMAS) Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) was able to uncover the talents of students.

Organised in collaboration with the Head of Residential College E Club, the three-day programme saw several activities drawn such as the Acoustic Competition, Modern Dance, Poetry Reading and Short Video themed “UMS Di hatiku, besides exhibition by each residential college and a blood donation drive.

The closing ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni, Associate Professor Dr. Ismail Ali at Anjung Siswa, Student Affairs Department building.

In his speech, he praised the organisers for organising such programme that not only strengthened the relationship among students who were involved but also build a sense of identity of the students.

“We strongly encourage our residential colleges to organise such activities more often.

“The Department of Student Affairs is ever-willing to support such programmes which is beneficial for our students,” he said.

During the ceremony, Dr. Ismail also presented prizes to the winners of the Acoustic and Modern Dance competition.

‘Feel Honey’ group emerged as the winner for the acoustic competition, whilst the modern dance competition was won by the group ‘Weetari Keningau’.

As for the Poetry Reading contest, Muhamad Ezyree won the top spot, whilst the short video competition was won by Ibtisam.  The prizes for both competitions were presented by the Deputy Head of Residential College E, Hilmey Saili. – (fl)
