UMS HOPE Project To Help the Disabled

hope umsFRIDAY, 28 NOVEMBER – Recognising that many among our society require welfare assistance, a group of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) undergrads had organised a charity project recently to help those in need.
 
With the theme ‘One Love One Hope’, the Public Relations Undergrads group along with the International Business Programme, Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy conducted the HOPE project to create awareness and provide assistance to People with Special Needs (OKU).
 
According to the project director, Lai Chiau Yi, the project received support from several private companies that provide sponsorship in the form of daily necessities such as food, stationery, medicines and so on.
 
“Support from private companies towards this charitable projects like this is a positive development and are able to make an impact in the form of intensified activities to safeguard the welfare of the disabled and less fortunate,” he said.
 
Under the leadership of the Public Relations lecturer, Charlie Albert Lasuin, the group conducted the HOPE project by organising a cleaning activity around the TOLUMIS Care Centre, Tuaran.
 
They also spent time mingling, besides having fun group activities with the residents of the centre which consisted of people with disabilities.
 
The group comprised 35 UMS undergrads and also conducted community service activity at the Sabah Cheshire Home, Likas. – MA(fl) -
