Students Association Helps Secondary School Students

PERMAPPSTUESDAY, 21 APRIL – The Psychology, Education and Sports Students Association (PERMAPPS) Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) recently held a benchmarking programme involving Sepagaya Secondary School (SMK), Lahad Datu.

Programme Director, Datu Rosman Datuk Ahir Zaman said the three-day programme was attended by 32 students and six teachers of SMK Sepagaya including nine chaperons.

“The visit is an effort and commitment of PERMAPPS to be a role model to students. It is also a cooperation between the school and faculty to expose students to life in university,” he said when met by media after the programme.

He added that the programme also aimed to inject and improve the undergrads’ soft skills to be versatile graduates.

Meanwhile, Head of Publicity Department FELDA at the Prime Minister’s Department Sabah, Asmarah Rikun said, studying in the university required a lot of sacrifice and hard work.

“Poverty is no longer a reason not to continue their studies into university but depends on the effort and intention of the students,” he said.

Various activities will be held during the programme including briefings on public speaking, knowledge sharing and training sessions in groups that emphasize on motivation and leadership. – ZMD (fl)
