KESUMBA Generate More Than RM 50,000

FRIDAY, 13 JUNE – ‘Kelab Suri Rumah dan Staf Wanita Universiti Malaysia Sabah’ (KESUMBA) successfully generate more than RM50,000 for their income since June 2013 until May 2014.

The amount was gained through several activities including rental sites for flower sales during UMS Convocation, rental for Graha Suvaneka shop, corporate gifts and table for ‘Majlis Makan Malam Semarak Budi’.

According to KESUMBA’s President, Datin Baidah Ibrahim; income generating activities has enabled KESUMBA to contribute to welfare agencies. The orphanage and UMS students welfare fund are some of the agencies received the contribution.

“This proves KESUMBA’s concern to help those in need and giving the opportunity to KESUMBA to approach the community,” she said today during her speech for the 17th KESUMBA Annual General Meeting held at Teratak KESUMBA.

UMS Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah complement KESUMBA members’ roles that able to give great contribution to the university’s progress during his opening speech.

“I am proud that KESUMBA members are able to manage household activities efficiently, upbringing and caring for the children, and also at the same time managed to do the office work dedicatedly and active in contributing to the university through the club activities. Well done and congratulation!” he said.

Datuk Dr. Harun also had the opportunity to officiate ‘Taman Herba KESUMBA’. The herb garden have more than 20 types of herb; some of them are Gyunura Procumbens Back (Pokok Sambung Nyawa), Aloe Vera, Sabah Snake Grass, Pereskia Sacharosa/Saecnarosa (Jarum Tujuh Bilah), Turmeric and Black Tumeric.-ZMD
