About Us

MISSION
Developing and maintaining university’s infrastructure efficiently in terms of cost and time towards a conducive environment for learning and education.

VISION
To ensure management of UMS facilities meets the standard of excellence in line with the vision of National Higher Education Strategic Plan to make Malaysia the Centre for Higher Education Regionally and Internationally by 2020.

BACKGROUND
The Development and Maintenance Department Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) is responsible for the overall development of the university. In August 2001, JPP has undertaken an internal restructuring of the department to streamline the monitoring of maintenance and development work. JPP currently is divided into 10 sectors namely; Administration Sector, JPP Financial Operation Sector, Assets and Vehicle Management Sector, Architect Sector, Mechanical & Electrical Sector, Civil & Structural Engineering Sector, Contracts & Surveying Sector, Development Plan Sector, Space & Land Management Sector and Landscape & Pest Control Sector.

OBJECTIVES
To ensure effectiveness in the implementation of policies and projects under the Malaysia Plan.
To ensure development projects are implemented according to schedule, resources and goals, as specified.
To ensure maintenance of building, mechanical and electrical infrastructure are planned, managed and monitored properly and systematically.
To ensure all assets are recorded and maintained properly and systematically.
To ensure maintenance of building and utilities are acted on immediately and economical in cost.
To ensure applications for upgrades and renovations are managed efficiently and implemented in accordance with job specification, tender or quotation.
To manage and monitor our landscape are kept beautiful, harmonious and cosy.
