About Us

The UMS Islamic Centre introduced to educate the community in University Malaysia Sabah in relation to the Islamic ways of life besides ensuring the proper management and development of the UMS Mosque. This unit is significant in imparting general knowledge concerning Islam and simultaneously encouraging the development of a more balanced character emotionally, mentally and spiritually. The unit is also a center for religious reference, solving societal problems and responsible for the development and unity of the ummah (community).

The functions of this unit are:

  •     To plan and organise religious programs and activities towards improving and strengthening the community's appreciation and understanding of Islam.
  •     To arrange and manage the activities of the UMS Mosque towards encouraging the syiar (commands and ways) of Islam.
  •     To guide and give counselling to the UMS community in order to mould a morally civilized and cultured society.
  •     To ensure that the mosque functions as a place of ibadah (Islamic worship).
  •     To organize courses, seminars, forums and workshops with relevance to Islamic affairs.
  •     To manage the publications of the Friday leaflets, the khutbah texts of the Friday sermon, the du'as (supplications to invoke Allah for whatever one desires), the salat taqwim, etc.
  •     To be the center of religious reference specifically on current Islamic issues.

Perform independent audits and produce balanced reports to the Audit Committee and University’s Board of Directors.

Scope and Audit Methodology
·         The auditing should focus on specific activities. For this purpose, the auditing shall be subject to the Sub-Finance Centre (PTJ) of the university.
·         Selection of PTJ or activity to be audited shall be made in a cyclical system and priority is given to departments with greater spending and revenue collection.
·         Auditing shall include a reasonable period so that the objective of an audit can be achieved.
·         The number of audit transactions is subject to the effectiveness of the internal control of the PTJ or activities being audited. Number of samples selected would depend on the number of transactions for the year being audited in certain considerations taken into account by an auditor.
·         PTJ can be categorised as having an effective internal control system should have among other the following elements:-
§  All transactions are properly documented and may be inspected at any time;
§  All transactions are recorded correctly and updated;
§  All transactions are reviewed and approved by authorised parties;
§  There is a separation of duties in approving, processing, recording and reviewing of transactions; and
§  Effective supervision given to the duties of subordinate officers.

About Us

The main role of Chancellery's Department is to assist the Vice-Chancellor in implementing, coordinating and provide general monitoring on the overall university's activities as well as to deliver all information and activities effectively.

The Chancellery's Department consists of the Vice-Chancellor's Office, the Deputies Vice-Chancellor's Office and the Chancellery's Administration Office.

Roles

  • Coordinating general administration and department's personnel matters (file record/off-day)
  • Managing, keep records, monitoring and maintain control of the department's financial allocation
  • Secretariate for the Morning Meeting, PBPU Meeting and other meetings instructed by the Vice-Chancellor
  • Coordinating discussion sessions, meeting with students, university's staff and the Vice-Chancellor's guests.
  • Coordinating official visit to overseas' database approved by the Vice-Chancellor
  • Managing and coordinating the Vice-Chancellor's special tasks.
  • Coodinating documents and monitoring the progress of the MOU/MOA collaboration signed between UMS and other agencies.
  • Managing the database of the appointment letters for academic and non-academic issued by the Vice-Chancellor.
  • Coordinating department's circulars issued by the Vice-Chancellor.

Corporate Relations Division (BPK) and Department of Information Technology and Communication (JTMK) collaborate to ensure this website is user friendly. 

Our Clients Charter is centred on two important elements and based on the university’s motto “Strive To Excel” which is “CRD Information Gateway” and “BPK Cares’.  The advancement in information technology has enabled us to obtain information at the tip of our finger.  Thus, we are committed to ensure UMS website becomes an important mechanism in providing the needed information.

Unit Penyelidikan Tibi

Unit Penyelidikan Tibi, UMS telah ditubuhkan pada 23 Julai 2012. Tujuan utama penubuhan ini adalah untuk melaksanakan penyelidikan penyakit Tibi (Batuk Kering) dan menyediakn perkhidmatan klinikal ( klinik dan makmal) untuk pesakit Tibi. Dengan demikian dapat mengurangkan kes penyakit Tibi dan komplikasinya serta mengawal kes kerintangan ubat Tibi.

Visi
Unit Penyelidikan TIbi, Fakulti Perubatan dan Sains Kesihatan Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) berazam untuk menjadi sebuah unit yang bukan sahaja mampu menjalankan penyelidikan terhadap penyakit Tibi malah boleh menyediakan perkhidmatan rawatan kepada pesakit Tibi.

Misi
Unit Penyelidikan Tibi Fakulti Perubatan dan Sains Kesihatan UMS komited untuk mencapai kecemerlangan dalam menyediakan infrastruktur penyelidikan penyakit Tibi dan menyediakan perkhidmatan kesihatan kepada pesakit Tibi.

Objektif Unit

1. Ke arah mengukuhkan sistem kesihatan dengan cara :-
  1.1 Menyediakan Kemudahan Klinikal
  1.2 Menjalankan Operasi Penyelidikan
2. Ke arah meningkatkan penjagaan pesakit di sabah dengan kerjasama Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia.
3. Menyediakan perkhidmatan penjagaan dan rawatan TB termasuk kes-kes di kawasan yang mempunyai sumber yang terhad serta kawasan pendalaman melalui penubuhan klinik Tibi dengan sebuah organisasi Korea Selatan “Zero TB World (ZTBW)” untuk mewujudkan kemudahan kesihatan di kawasan-kawasan sasaran.
4. Menjalankan kaji selidik keatas kerintangan ubat anti- TB
5. Meningkatkan kemudahan makmal di UMS dengan pengkulturan dan ujian sensitiviti untuk Mycobacterium tuberculosis serta jaminan kualiti (QA) yang diiktiraf.
6. Meningkatkan pengawasan berkomputer (peningkatan komponen DOTS) dan mengukuhkan sistem pemantauan dan penilaian.
7. Mengadakan kerjasama dengan organisasi tempatan, serantau dan antarabangsa dengan tujuan mengawal batuk kering.
8. Ke arah mencapai Matlamat Pembangunan Milenium (Millenium Development Goals (MDG) oleh Pertubuhan Kesihatan Sedunia (WHO) (pengurangan kepada separuh frekuensi kes batuk kering menjelang tahun 2015), dengan sokongan dari perbadanan antarabangsa seperti (Zero TB World) ZTBW.
9. Menyediakan latihan untuk kakitangan klinikal.
10. Menginovasi kaedah yang sesuai bagi penyediaan pendidikan kesihatan kepada masyarakat.
