Programme Overview

This program aims to nurture innovative, resilient, and universally responsible economists specializing in human resource economics to support national aspirations of becoming a developed and high-income country. Graduates of this program will be able to work in a variety of fields at the federal, state, and local government institutions, as well as the private sector. The graduates may also be employed in research or consultation firms where they help to study and analyze a variety of economic issues.

  • Fulfils the University General Requirements

  • Obtain at least a Grade C in ONE (1) subject at the STPM level: Business Studies / Economics / Accounting / Mathematics M

  • Obtain at least a Grade E in ONE (1) subject at the SPM level: Mathematics.

  • Obtain at least BAND 2.0 for results obtained starting from Session 1 of the year 2021, or BAND 2 for results from 2020 and before in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET), within the validity period at the time of application.

  • Fulfils the University General Requirements

  • Obtain at least Jayyid level in the STAM examination

  • Obtain at least a Grade E in ONE (1) subject at the SPM level: Mathematics.

  • Obtain at least BAND 2.0 for results obtained starting from Session 1 of the year 2021, or BAND 2 for results from 2020 and before in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET), within the validity period at the time of application.

  • Fulfils the University General Requirements

  • Obtain at least a Grade C in ONE (1) subject at the Matriculation level: Economics / Principles of Economics

  • Obtain at least a Grade E in ONE (1) subject at the SPM level: Mathematics.

  • Obtained at least BAND 2.0 for results obtained starting from Session 1 of the year 2021, or BAND 2 for results from 2020 and before in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET), valid as of the application date.

  • Fulfils the University General Requirements

  • Possess a Diploma related to the field from an educational institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah.

  • Obtain at least a Grade E in Mathematics at the SPM level.

  • Obtained at least Band 2.0 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from Session 1 of the year 2021 or Band 2 for examinations up to the year 2020, valid as of the application date.

  • Fulfils the University General Requirements

  • Obtain at least a Grade C (CGPA 2.00) at the Pre-University level of Sekolah Sukan Malaysia (SSM) in any of the following subjects: Business Studies/Economics/Mathematics M

  • Obtain at least a Grade E in Mathematics at the SPM level.

  • Obtained at least Band 2.0 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from Session 1 of the year 2021 or Band 2 for examinations up to the year 2020, valid as of the application date.

International candidates who wish to apply for the undergraduate program in UMS must follow the general entry requirements as follows:

Higher Certificate of Education (STPM) or GCE ‘A’ Level or equivalent:

  • A pass in GCE ‘O’ Level or its equivalent;
  • A pass in the STPM, GCE ‘A’ Level, or Higher School Certificate (HSC), or its equivalent with at least grade C in any THREE (03) subjects;
  • A pass in Cambridge International Examination Test with at least grade B; or
  • Exceptions for English-speaking countries as stated in the MQA qualifications; or
  • Exceptions for schools/institutes/colleges that use English as the official language for learning and teaching.
Foundation of Diploma or its Equivalent:
  • A Diploma or its equivalent recognized by the Malaysian government and the University Senate with a CGPA of at least 3.00;
  • A pass in the Cambridge International Examination Test with at least grade B; or
  • Exceptions for English-speaking countries, as stated in the MQA qualifications; or
  • Exceptions for schools/institutes/colleges that use English as the official language for learning and teaching.
