The Gallery Azman Hashim at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (GAH-UMS) is proud to announce the exhibition FRESH LINE, "Exploring Sabah Through Five Artistic Voices". Fresh Lines presents a collective exhibition by five emerging artists from Sabah, Asru Wali, Jasper Junior, Rizalman, Sylvernie, and Eve Eftasonia. This exhibition showcases 20 artworks that reflect the vitality and diversity of a new generation of creative voices. Each artist of-fers a unique perspective shaped by their personal experiences, cultural heritage, and con-nection to the land, forming a dialogue between tradition and contemporary expression.
The title Fresh Lines embodies both the beginning of an artistic journey and the explora-tion of new directions in visual language. Every artist begins with a line, a fundamental gesture that carries the potential to evolve into form, story, and meaning. Within this context, “lines” represent more than just marks on a surface. They symbolize connections between people and places, between memory and imagination, and between cultural narratives and personal identity.
The term fresh signifies renewal and discovery. It reflects the artists’ emerging status as well as their desire to reinterpret Sabah’s cultural heritage and landscapes with a contemporary sensibility.
