SUBJECT: WORKSHOP ON INTRODUCTORY COMMUNITY BASED RESEARCH (CBR)

Dear Prof. Dr./Asso. Prof. Dr./Dr./Sir/Madam,

UMS has always been active in Community Engagement since its inception in 1994. In order to further increase UMS impact on the community, CICN is happy to share the following course offered at USM on 22 September 2016 on “Introduction to Community Based Research (CBR)”, as this can be integrated with our existing engagement.

Following the 8th Regional Asia Pacific University Community Engagement Network (APUCEN) Council Meeting held in Universiti Utara Malaysia on 5 June 2016, the Regional Council of APUCEN is very keen to encourage Community Based Research (CBR), where the community will work hand-in- hand with the university to solve problems of our time.  The partnership between the community and university will shed new light in solving today's challenges through innovative directions.

The President of APUCEN, YBhg Prof. Dato Dr. Omar Osman said APUCEN will focus more on CBR to encourage the involvement of staff and academics in community engagement.  APUCEN will move towards offering Socially-engaged Scholarship for Executive and Socially-engaged Scholarship training workshop for its members, which is closely link to CBR.

APUCEN had taken the initiative to invite facilitators from Chiangmai University, an institution which is leading in CBR, to share with us. Please refer to the brochure attached for more information.
