Education For Sustainable Development (ESD) Empowers Malaysian Campuses: The FEE Ecocampus Programme And UMS Academicians

The FEE EcoCampus Programme, owned by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) based in Denmark and being operated in Malaysia by WWF-Malaysia (2017-2022) and Green Growth Asia Foundation (from 2022), is an international award-based ESD programme empowering campus communities, especially youth to nurture and preserve sustainable development via a well structured and achievable framework in tandem with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) 2030. The programme has benefitted a whopping 111,000 tertiary students from 7 public universities, 8 private varsities and 10 institutes for teacher education thus far. The National FEE EcoCampus Programme Committee (NFEC), which was first established in 2017 is currently chaired by KUEH BOON HEE from the Institute for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ITBC) UMS, besides Dr. ROBERT F. PETERS (ITBC~EcoCampus Management Centre, UMS) and Ir. Ts. Dr. MELVIN GAN JET HONG (Faculty of Engineering, UMS) as Committee Members.
